The Institute for Social, Statistical and Economic Research at the University of Ghana and UCL Energy Institute are pleased to announce the final call for papers for the “Strategies for Sustainable Energy Transitions in Urban Sub-Saharan Africa” (SETUSA) conference, taking place from 19th - 20th June 2017 at the ISSER Conference Facility, University of Ghana, Legon, Accra, Ghana.
You are invited to submit papers for this conference on the following sub-themes:
- Energy efficiency strategies in urban Sub-Saharan Africa, including efficient buildings as well as energy demand management
- Energy access strategies in urban Sub-Saharan Africa, including electricity supply, renewable energy access and waste-to-energy strategies
- Mobility and spatial planning in urban Sub-Saharan Africa, including sustainable transportation and spatial planning strategies for future cities.
Papers on the above topics can be case studies of best practices in terms of implementing policies and regulations within municipalities and at a national level to promote sustainable cities. Theory-based papers, referring to knowledge exchange framework theories, institutional analysis, policy network theories, urban theories or international comparisons can also be submitted.
Papers with perspectives on gender; articulation between the formal and informal sector; grassroots movements, local communities and mobilisation; territorial representations and the recognition of local social dynamics are equally welcome.
Please submit your abstracts by 31st December 2016 for consideration.
