The Global Information Infrastructure and Networking Symposium (GIIS) consists of an interrelated set of technical,policy, and social issues implicit in the development of national and international (global) information infrastructuresand networks. GIIS aims at identifying and promoting the exchange of knowledge on these interrelated issues andprovides liaison to bodies in the global society, technical fora and international standards. GIIS 2017 follows thesuccess of the precedent editions and intends to promote interdisciplinary conference sessions to discuss, build andfurther the use of national and international information infrastructures and networks. The conference also aims atproviding a forum for the participants to broaden professional contacts and for technical discussions and interactionson specific information infrastructure and networking topics. Information Infrastructure and Networking (IIN) bringstogether information processing applications, communications ne!
tworks and services, physical and softwareelements in networks, and end systems. The program of GIIS 2017 will include invited talks and keynotes, paperpresentations, tutorials, panel, and discussion sessions.
Accepted and presented papers will be published in the conference proceedings and will be submitted for inclusion in IEEE Xplore. Authors of papers of special merit will be invited to send their extended versions to a Special Issue organized for this purpose in International Journals indexed in ISI Thomson and Scopus databases.
Authors are invited to submit full papers (up to 8 pages, double column) according to the guidelines available on the conference website at Authors Guidelines. GIIS 2017 includes three tacks focusing on (but not limited to) the following topics:
Track 1: Communication Software, Services and Systems
Track 2: Wired / Wireless Communication, Networks and Information Infrastructure
Track 3: Telecom Policies and Development of Global Access
GIIS 2017 technical program committee invites authors to submit manuscripts with original research results that have not been previously published or that are not currently under review by another conference or journal. The following contributions are welcome: (i) Research papers reporting on new trends and developments, (ii) Application papers reporting on academia developments of technologies, products, services, systems and solutions, (iii) Performance evaluation and experimentation papers, (iv) Industry practice papers.
Submissions will be judged based on originality, significance, clarity, relevance, and correctness. All submitted papers will be subject to peer reviews by Technical Program Committee members and other experts in the field. Papers presented at the symposium will be considered for a Best Paper Award.
