The 31st International Symposium on Space Technology and Science (ISTS) will be held at Matsuyama Himegin Hall from June 3 (Sat) to 9 (Fri), 2017. The ISTS Organizing Committee and the Japan Society for Aeronautical and Space Sciences (JSASS) would like to invite individuals of all nations interested in space-related activities to participate in this event.
The 31st ISTS will be held under the main theme of ” Open up a New Age of Space Discovery ” ?Space Cuckoo Flies to New Space Frontier from Matsuyama.?
The historical city of Matsuyama on beautiful Shikoku island is the birthplace of the great Japanese poet Shiki Masaoka is known for introducing modern versions of the ancient Japanese‘Tanka’ and ‘Haiku’, short poems . ”Shiki” is his nom de plume meaning “a little cuckoo”. In Tanka and Haiku, the poet expresses his emotion in simple but beautiful words and enables us to imagine even the infinite universe. As Tanka and Haiku stir the poetic imagination and enrich our hearts, Space also stimulates our intellectual curiosity which drives the progress of science, technology and culture.
Matsuyama is one of the best places of imaging and discussing the New Age of Space Discovery and New Space Frontier.
We will welcome you with a variety of programs, including plenary lectures, panel discussions, a Control System Design Contest, Student Sessions, Exhibitions as well as social programs to help you experience and enjoy Matsuyama. We are also very glad to hold the 26th International Symposium on Space Flight Dynamics and the 8th Nano-satellite Symposium jointly with ISTS, which is expected to generate additional synergies.
We are looking forward to seeing you at the 31st ISTS, 26th ISSFD and 8th NSAT in the beautiful city of Matsuyama, with its rich history of temples, Matsuyama castle, and literature, blessed with natural hot springs and fresh food.
