Topics/Call fo Papers

Understanding biological systems as computational devices situates at the intersection of Bio aspects and Computational aspects. BioComputation encompasses computation aspects related to living universe. The data on living universe reached a high volume (Big Data) and only a small fraction could be considered until the high computation power and large size storage became available. Cloud and GPU (Graphical Process Units) technologies allow a great level of parallelism and resource sharing, making it possible to process such large data. However, context-sensitivity, privacy, legal/regulatory aspects, as well as specific requirements for dedicated applications (healthcare, wearable/implantable devices) are concerns to still be solved. Large-scale BioComputation benefits from Big Data-oriented solutions and signs to overpass nowadays challenges are high.
