Topics/Call fo Papers

Recent advances in multimedia computing have opened many avenues for visual-based intelligent services that have the potential to support our daily “intelligent life”. These technological advances ? which span a broad range of visual understanding tasks including object/action recognition, image/video search, video event detection, scene reconstruction, vision to language, and multimedia security ? can facilitate a variety of multimedia analysis applications from visual identification of users to 3D city mapping and detecting child exploitation images/videos. Moreover, by harnessing the power of the cloud, computationally-intensive vision tasks have become increasingly accessible to ordinary users.
This special session aims at demonstrating how multimedia computing techniques has contributed, and are contributing to the emerging vision-based intelligent services. Particularly, we have witnessed an age that more innovative algorithms as well as systems are being developed to better understand and enhance multimedia signals regarding intelligent life for spirituality, for fun, and for leisure. Therefore, more novel approaches are required to bridge the gap between emerging Medias and smarter life for everyone. Still, it needs to be further explored how technologies from different multimedia computing areas can be used for more intelligent daily life. This session will focus on the latest developments in multimedia computing as well as research works on consumer services that they may enable for intelligent life. We are pleased to invite researchers from several communities (i.e., signal processing, machine learning, multimedia analysis, data mining, distributed and cloud computing, etc.) to share their insights and cutting-edge results.
