Web Technologies and Services for Collaborative E-learning
Theme
As keyboards replace chalkboards, the Web’s impact on traditional educational theories and practices becomes increasingly apparent; the Web has transformed and expanded the boundaries of conventional education. Web-based learning environments such as virtual colleges, laboratories, and universities have generated a wealth of new educational strategies and technical innovations worthy of critical attention and discussion. This involves innovative and integrated use of databases, information retrieval, data mining and multi-media technologies using specially designed software and hardware to make the learning environment robust and stable.ITNG 2011 will provide an opportunity for scholars, faculty, researchers, and administrators in all areas of Web-based education to convene with colleagues to discuss innovative ideas and research results in the new and exciting field of Web-based education. Also cutting edge technology providers who serve to host such virtual learning environments will be able to share and discuss their ideas to improve and innovate their products. We strongly encourage submissions of both a theoretical and practical nature, from both academia and industry. Suggested areas of interest include, but are not limited to:
PDAs, Wireless & Mobile Learning
Research in Online Pedagogy
Web 2.0 Applications and their role in education (Blogs, Google Apps)
Collaborative E-learning : Social Networking tools - Facebook, Twitter, etc.
Dot-com Educational Institutions and their Impact on Traditional Universities
Scientific Web-based Laboratories and Virtual Labs
