The annual flagship event of the IEEE Society on Social Implications of Technology (SSIT), ISTAS 2016 provides a Multidisciplinary platform for practitioners, researchers, engineers & polymaths, policy makers, NGOs, technologists and social scientists to collaborate, exchange experiences & good practices, and to discuss social, cultural, economic and ethical implications of emerging technologies.
The 2016 edition of ISTAS is hosted by IEEE Kerala Section in Region 10, and will build on the momentum created by last year's Symposium by focusing on the potential impact and implications of disruptive technologies (including IoT, Cloud Computing and Green Technologies) on Global Development. It will also showcase IEEE's activities addressing Global Development challenges, including IEEE SIGHT. The event is supported by several international agencies including IEEE SIGHT and Internet Society.
Thematic areas of particular relevance for papers, practitioner presentations and community engagement workshops include Agriculture and Food Security, Education, Energy, Environment and Health-care.
We invite you to submit full papers for oral presentation and/or Proposals for Tutorials and Community Engagement Workshops (CEWs) through the ISTAS 2016 Portal (http://istas2016.org) that address economic, ethical, policy, socio-cultural and sustainability issues associated with:

Full paper of 6 pages (Letter) for oral presentation (see template on website)
Proposal to organize a technical session and/or workshop.
All papers presented at the conference will be included in the conference proceedings published by the IEEE and IET Inspec. The conference proceedings will be available online on the IEEE Xplore.
