ONA 2011 - 2011 ONA Board of Directors
Topics/Call fo Papers
The Online News Association is pleased to call for nominations for the seven seats open for the 2011 Board of Directors.
Participation on the ONA Board of Directors is a unique opportunity for digital professionals interested in shaping the future of online journalism, helping to guide a fast-growing organization into its next phase and working to build a stronger industry. Board participation is a chance to grow personally and professionally, to develop skills, experience and connections with a team of other passionate and motivated professionals.
The deadline for nominations is 11:59 p.m. ET on Monday, Aug. 16.
Under a change in the bylaws approved in 2010, up to five non-Professional members (Academics and Associates) may serve on the board at any one time.
For the 2011 election, seven out of 15 seats are open. Six incumbent board members are seeking re-election. Three are non-Professional members.
The remaining seven seats are currently filled by incumbent board members who will be completing the second year of their terms and one seat will be held for appointment.
Terms are for two years and begin Jan. 1, 2011.
An ONA member who wants to be considered for position on the ONA Board of Directors must be nominated by another ONA member. Both parties must be ONA members in good standing.
Nomination form (to be completed by nominating member)
Nominee application (to be completed by member being nominated)
Before filling out the form, all nominees and their nominators should be familiar with the following:
ONA Board of Directors Responsibilities
The Nomination/Election Process and Important Dates
ONA’s Mission
This year, to encourage member participation in the 2011 election, we will be posting the final slate of nominees on Journalists.org, along with photos, bios and their vision for ONA as submitted during the nomination process.
We’ve also extended the nomination and election process so that nominees can reach out to members, via social media or other communications platforms, and so members can meet nominees in person at ONA10, the ONA Conference & Online Journalism Awards Banquet in Washington, D.C. Voting begins Friday, Oct. 29 and ends Friday, Nov. 13.
If you have questions about the nomination process, please e-mail Executive Director Jane McDonnell at director-AT-journalists.org. We look forward to seeing your applications.
