2010 IEEE Education Society Call for Nominations

The terms of all IEEE Education Society (EdSoc) officers (President, Vice
President, Secretary, and Treasurer) and four members of the twelve-member
Administrative Committee (AdCom) expire on 31 December 2010.

In accordance with the Constitution and Bylaws of the IEEE Education
Society (available online at:

http://www.ewh.ieee.org/soc/es/Jan2008-Const-Bylaw...).

The election of officers and AdCom members-at-large will occur during the fall AdCom meeting, which will be held during the Frontiers in Education Conference in Arlington, Virginia, USA, October 27-30, 2010. Those elected will assume office on 1 January 2010.

The President, Vice-President, and Secretary may serve only two
consecutive one-year terms; the Treasurer may serve up to six consecutive
one-year terms; and AdCom members-at-large may serve only two consecutive
full three-year terms. By tradition, the Nominating Committee offers
nomination as a candidate for an additional consecutive term to officers
and AdCom members-at-large who are eligible for reelection.

The current President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer all are
serving in their last year of eligibility and are not eligible for
reelection to the same office. Additionally, the current Vice President
has indicated that he does not wish to be nominated for President. Three
of the four AdCom members-at-large whose terms are expiring are eligible
for election to serve an additional three-year term.

Current EdSoc officers and AdCom members-at-large with terms expiring 31
Dec 2010:

President, Susan Lord
Vice President, Tony Mitchell
Secretary, Rob Reilly
Treasurer, James Sluss

Cordelia Brown (eligible for reelection)
Manuel Castro
Matthew Ohland (eligible for reelection)
Hamadou Saliah-Hassane (eligible for reelection)

The Nominating Committee welcomes recommendations and nominations,
including self nominations, for all officer or AdCom member-at-large
positions. In accordance with the Constitution and Bylaws, a nominee also
may be placed on the ballot by a petition from society members.

Recommendations and petitions must be submitted to the Chair of the
Nominating Committee no later than 15 September 2010 . There is no formal
template for a nomination petition; however, the petition must (1)
identify the candidate and the office and (2) contain the signatures and
IEEE member numbers of at least 25 EdSoc members, excluding students.
