Key Take Away
Talent intelligence to increase the manager’s effectiveness and responsibility in engaging and retaining their key employees in a cost-effective manner.
Overview
A new Global Workforce Study by global HRconsultant Towers Watson found thatover two-thirds of U.S. workers “are not fully engaged in their work and are struggling to cope with work situations that don’t provide sufficient support.”
They are emotionally disconnected from their companies and may actually be working against their employers' interests. They tend to be less productive; to be more likely to steal from their companies; to negatively influence their coworkers as well as miss workdays and drive customers away.
Therefore, when workers are not fully engaged, it leads to greater performance risk for employers. It makes companies more vulnerable to lower productivity, higher inefficiency, weaker customer service, and greater rates of absenteeism and turnover. And it costs companies millions of dollars each year in waste, inefficiency and customer dissatisfaction. Hence employee retention strategies and satisfaction are turning critical.
Why Should You Attend
The State of the American Workplace: Employee Engagement Insights for U.S. Business Leaders report that of the approximately 100 million people in America who hold full-time jobs, 30 million (30%) are engaged and inspired at work, so we can assume they have a great boss.
That’s close to 70% of American workers who are either not engaged ? not inspired by their work or actively disengaged ? not working for but against the company. Many of these employees risk management are ineffective. The saying is, “People don’t leave companies they leave bad managers.”
If your managers or leaders aren’t concerned about the measures of employee engagement training or don’t see their role in employee engagement, then you will see good employees leaving for greener pastures.
Now you have a bigger problem ? a revolving door of employees. You hire new people to replace the ones who left; assign them to managers who don’t engage and quickly demotivate; they leave and the cycle starts all over.
