Topics/Call fo Papers

IEEE AVSS will be held in Colorado Springs, CO August 24 ? 26, 2016 with workshops
Submission of Full Papers: Thursday March 31, 2016 (23:59:59 PST)
Co-located Workshops: August 23, 2016
Conference website: http://avss2016.org
Prospective authors are invited to submit high-quality full papers representing original results in all areas of signal-based surveillance.
The final papers are limited to 6 pages in double-column IEEE format, including figures, excluding references. Optional Page fees will allow up to 8 pages, excluding references. All manuscripts will be published as IEEE proceedings.
AVSS focuses on underlying theory, methods, systems, and applications of surveillance and invites submissions in areas listed below, especially cross-disciplinary and game-changing ones. The list of topics of interest includes, but is not limited to:
SURVEILLANCE SYSTEMS AND APPLICATIONS
Hardware and software architectures | Research prototypes | Simulators | Civilian, industrial, and military | Transportation (road, rail, air, maritime) | Performance evaluation
SECURITY & PRIVACY
Data authenticity | Privacy in surveillance | Forensics | Biometrics (standoff, multi-modal,
voice, etc.) | Cybersecurity for surveillance (wireless, network, computer) | Advanced Biometrics at a Distance |Privacy enhanced Biometrics
SENSOR-CENTRIC PROCESSING:
Sensors (visible/infrared/3D/mm wave/audio/radio,etc.) | Ground, airborne, satellite based (fixed/mobile/UAV) | Crowdsourcing (cellular, social networks) | Calibration and positioning (GPS, etc.) | Communications and networked sensing | Distributed Camera Networks and Smart Cameras
PROCESSING, DETECTION, TRACKING & RECOGNITION:
Modeling and feature selection | Detection and estimation (change, motion, anomaly, saliency, pattern) | Data association and (multi) target tracking | Classification and recognition | Multi-modal fusion
VISUALIZATION AND INTERACTION CONCEPTS FOR SURVEILLANCE SYSTEMS
Compression and summarization | Archival, search and retrieval | Human-computer interfaces | Visualization algorithms | Mobile and distributed interaction
ANALYTICS, SITUATION AWARENESS & DECISION MAKING
Activity/interaction analysis and monitoring | Intention estimation and situation
awareness | Crowdsourcing-based methods | Cognitive dynamic systems and bio-
inspired methods
AVSS is also seeking proposal for Co-located workshops
Workshops on topics related to visual and signal-based surveillance, especially in new and upcoming research or application areas, are of great interest. Contests to evaluate performance of algorithms related to visual and signal-based surveillance are also of great interest. Past AVSS workshops include:
Performance Evaluation of Tracking Systems
Vehicle Retrieval in Surveillance
Automatic Traffic Surveillance
Activity Monitoring by Multiple Distributed Sensing
Identification and Surveillance for Border Control
Low-Resolution Face Analysis
Prospective workshop/contest organizers are invited to submit proposals via email to Conrad Sanderson (avss2016.workshops-AT-gmail.com) by 7 March 2016, see details at http://avss2016.org/cfw
