The IEEE/ACM International Conference on Software Engineering (ICSE) is the premier international forum for researchers, industrial practitioners, educators, and students to present and discuss the most recent innovations, trends, experiences, results and challenges in the field of software engineering. The UsARE workshop focuses on RE and HCI and provides a platform for discussing issues that are relevant for both fields. The first workshop (UsARE 2012) was held on June 04, 2012 in conjunction with ICSE 2012 at Zurich (Switzerland), and the second workshop (UsARE 2014) was held on August 25, 2014 in conjunction with IEEE RE 2014 at Karlskrona (Sweden). This time, UsARE 2016 will be held again in conjunction with the IEEE/ACM 38th International Conference on Software Engineering (ICSE 2016) at Austin, TX, USA on May 15, 2016.
Usability and accessibility issues are common causes for software failing to meet user requirements. However, requirements engineers often focus on functional requirements and may not fully elicit usability and accessibility requirements. This high risk practice can lead to project and software failure and it is well known that improving the usability and accessibility requirements during development is relatively costly and time consuming. Targeting these concerns, the workshop addresses the integration of system usability and accessibility requirements into the requirements engineering process and processes for managing and controlling the evaluation of these requirements in a systematic way.
The UsARE 2016 focuses on usability and accessibility requirements for IoT (Internet of Things) including mobile and wearable computing.
