WCIA 2016 - Handbook of Research on Wearable Computing Innovations and Applications
Topics/Call fo Papers
Wearable computing deals with issues related to on-body and worn mobile technologies. Wearable is an emerging area that has grown in the last years due to several new applications and companies in different fields, such as healthcare and sport solutions, but also to more innovative solutions such as smart watches and smart glasses. Also, the low cost and the increase of power computing of embedded systems will allow the large-scale production of wearable solutions and the emergence of new prototypes and ideas.
User interface design, pattern recognition, wireless personal area network technologies and augmented reality are examples of wearable computing research. Another important fact to be considered is the design of solutions, once users are willing to use stylish equipments. There are many electronic solutions able to be used in their clothes, such as textiles sensors.
Objectives
The main objective of this book is to be a state-of-art reference of wearable systems. It aims to examine current and future technologies, discuss proposed solutions and standards, and describe challenges and opportunities in this area. Some of the issues we foresee discussed in this book are: integration of wearable systems with Internet of Things, peer-to peer wireless local area network and body area network; real-time data processing in wearable systems; and study energy management techniques in the wearable context.
Recommended topics:
Body Area Network
Context awareness
Data fusion in wearable systems
Embedded wearable
Energy management
5G
Inter-body area network
New materials
New user experience
Operating systems and wearable
PAAS
SDN, SDWN
Wearable applied to safety
Wearable distributed systems
Wearable non-Invasive technologies
WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0
Wearable and IoT
Wearable environment monitoring
Wearable for human rehabilitation
Wearable health care
Wearable Sensors
Wearable user tracking
Submission Procedures
Researchers and practitioners are invited to submit on or before October 30, 2015, a 2-3 pages chapter proposal clearly explaining the mission and concerns of their proposed chapter. Authors of accepted proposals will be notified by November 30, 2015 about the status of their proposals and will be sent chapter guidelines. Full chapters are expected to be submitted by March 30, 2016, and all interested authors must consult the guidelines for manuscript submissions at http://www.igi-global.com/publish/contributor-reso... prior to submission. All submitted chapters will be reviewed on a double-blind review basis. Contributors may also be requested to serve as reviewers for other chapters.
Target Audience
This book could be used as a basic reference for researchers and students who want to learn the concepts and directions about the area. We hope that the book will become a reference on technological courses about this topic.
