OCEANS 2016 - MTS IEEE Oceans 2016
Topics/Call fo Papers
On behalf of the OCEANS ’16 MTS/IEEE Shanghai Local Organizing Committee, it is my great honor to write to you on this prestigious event. OCEANS is the flagship conference of the Marine Technology Society (MTS) and the IEEE Oceanic Engineering Society (OES), and one of the most influential international conference in this field. We are excited that for the first time, the OCEANS will be held in Mainland China. The theme of the conference, "Our Future is with Oceans", reflects our growing understanding of the importance on sustainable oceans, and our dedication on making oceans sustainable, which is certainly necessary for building a better future.
The name Shanghai literarily means "above ocean". As it indicated, Shanghai started as a little seaside town. Today it is a world known international center from many aspects, among which is its seaports and ocean related industries. Promoting the ocean science and technology have always been the city’s important tasks. The government of Shanghai has been providing many international collaborative opportunities on marine technology innovation, ocean economy development, and ocean energy explore, etc. The goal of those efforts are to bring more ocean scientists, engineers, research institutes, companies and organizations from all over the world to work toward the common goals of effectively protecting, peacefully utilizing, and sustainably developing oceans. Now with the OCEANS coming to Shanghai, I believe that Shanghai and the OCEANS will shed brighter light on each other for their leading roles on those efforts. As a frontrunner in ocean engineering and science in China, Shanghai Jiao Tong University is very glad to be the undertaker of OCEANS’ 16.
Shanghai is not a city that needs to be introduced on the world map. Whatever your expectation to Shanghai is, please come explore it. I believe it will fascinate you, its history, its culture, its food, its architect, its people, and most importantly, its energy.
The beautiful city of Shanghai welcomes you. Please come to OCEANS’16 Shanghai. We look forward to seeing you there.
