Special Issue on Teaching Political Journalism (December 2015 issue)
Guest Editors: Stephen Tanner and Shawn Burns, University of Wollongong, Australia
Asia Pacific Media Educator is publishing a special issue in December 2015 that explores how political journalism is taught in universities. The guest editors are inviting papers from journalism educators and media practitioners that cover the following:
? Changes in the way political journalism has been taught
? Case studies on how journalism is taught, including coverage of real time events (elections, policy announcements etc)
? The extent to which theory and practice should interact in political journalism classes
? Commentaries from Journalists turned academics explaining how their own experience informs their teaching
The term ‘political journalism’ can be loosely interpreted to cover a range of areas, including elections, policy, the environment, health, industrial relations, defence, international relations etc.
Manuscripts should be submitted to the guest editors at stanner-AT-uow.edu.au and shawn-AT-uow.edu.au by August 1, 2015.
