Overview:
This webinar will examine using simulations or job samples as a powerful, predictive selection tool - complementing more traditional techniques such as screening of resumes, references, and employment interviews.
Following a brief review of the history and research underlying the use of simulations, the webinar will explore the wide range of simulation options available and methods of choosing, constructing, administering, and evaluating candidate results.
By using practical applications from positions ranging from entry-level positions to top executives, we will broaden the selection toolkit of participants to add simulations to the assessment mix.
Why should you attend: Simulations, or job samples as they are often described, are the clear winners in the selection accuracy race, yet they are severely under-utilized as a pre-employment (or pre-promotion) assessment technique. This webinar seeks to remedy this by providing participants with the understanding and tools to create, administer, and evaluate candidate performance in this highly predictive methodology.
After a brief look at the history of simulations and how they have improved selection accuracy, we will explore the toolbox of selection methods available and explore how simulations might factor into the mix.
We will then examine how simulations might function in positions ranging from semi-skilled workers to chief executive hiring, linking simulation performance to on-the-job predictions of competence.
Areas Covered in the Session:
The place for simulations in selection
The history of simulations
The structure of competence
Steps in using simulations
Types of simulations
Simulations by position
Examples from manufacturing
Managerial assessment
Building a more effective in-basket
Simulations and job samples
Role play simulations
Who Will Benefit:
HR Generalists
HR Managers
Supervisors and Managers involved in Hiring
Team Leaders
Line Managers
Business Owners
Instructor:
Harold P Brull served as Senior Vice-President of Personnel Decisions International (PDI), now Korn Ferry Leadership Consulting, for 36 years. During his tenure he has designed selection processes and systems for over 1,000 organizations ranging from ford Motor Company to the Peace Corps. Harry is a licensed psychologist and has taught industrial/organizational psychology at the undergraduate and graduate levels for 17 years.
