CONNET 2016 - International Symposium on Advances in Content-oriented Networks and Systems
Topics/Call fo Papers
The global volume of information and contents, including multimedia, has significantly increased in the current Internet and this trend is expected to continue. The classic Internet architecture is inefficient with respect of the above, given its host-to-host communication model. Some application/service-specific solutions tried to partially solve the problems, e.g., Web caches and Content Delivery Networks (CDNs), by redirecting the clients to a nearby copy of the content file, P2P systems, enabling users to search and retrieve the content objects.
Recently, novel approaches have been proposed, like Content/Information Oriented Networking (CON/ICN), aiming to better adapt the architectures to content processing and delivery at network level. Content naming, content-based routing, name/location decoupling, content delivery, in-network caching, publish/subscribe style, etc., are new features and they also became CON/ICN research directions. However, introducing such new paradigms in the real networks is not trivial and could be expensive; therefore, different evolutionary or revolutionary roadmaps have been proposed. CON/ICN approaches in Cloud-based environments and Web-oriented networks are also topics of interest. CON - Cloud - CDN - P2P collaborative solutions seem also attractive, to produce synergy and increase efficiency and quality of content delivery.
CONNET 2015, The International Symposium on Advances in Content-oriented Networks and Systems, is dedicated to advances and challenges on the following topics.
