The purpose of this conference is to discuss recent results and future prospects in colloid and interface science and technology. The interdisciplinary field has been growing and flourishing. Functional colloids or nanoparticles become more and more part of our life. There has been more integration to physics as indicated in recent active research on "soft matter". Because of its complexity, colloid and interface science not only constitutes enormous challenges, but is also rewarding in its opportunities for fundamental research and technology. As a result, the importance of colloid and interface science in our society has steadily grown. It will play an indispensable role in meeting the global challenges, i.e. providing energy, food and fresh water, prevent climate change and sustain the environment. The conference will encourage interactions and to stimulate the exchange of ideas to accomplish the above purpose.
IACIS was founded in 1979 by a group of leading international colloid and interface scientists, with the aim to promote international collaboration among colloid and interface scientists and to encourage advancement and understanding in these fields. In order to achieve these aims, IACIS has held a series of regular international meetings, International Conferences on Surface and Colloid Science. The 15th of these is IACIS 2015 held from May 24-29 in Mainz, Germany. IACIS 2015 is coorganized together with the German Colloid Society and the Marie Curie Training Network Complex Wetting. The scientific program consists of plenary and invited lectures and contributed papers for oral and poster presentations.
