Introduction
In the past few years, a new wireless architecture has been introduced that does not rely on any fixed infrastructure. A mobile ad-hoc network (MANET) is a self starting dynamic network comprising of mobile nodes, where each and every participation node voluntarily transmits the packets destined to some remote node using wireless (radio signal) transmission. A mobile ad hoc network (MANET) is based on rapid deployment of independent mobile users. The routers are free to move randomly and organize themselves arbitrarily, thus the network’s wireless topology may change rapidly and unpredictably. Such a network may operate in a stand-alone fashion or may be connected to the Internet. With multihop, mobility, and bandwidth properties, MANET is able to perform in large networks even when combined with heterogeneous devices and device modes.
The tentative list of chapters for this book will include:
State of the Art on MANet
Emerging Research on MANet
Performance Analysis of MANet
MANet: Modeling, simulation and Applications
Quality of Service Provisioning in Wireless Mobile Ad Hoc Networks
Meta-Heuristics Optimization Algorithms in Engineering and MANet
Secure routing algorithms and protocols
Objective
The purpose of this book is to present high-quality theoretical and practical work on MANET. It will act as a reference, and include a real time research application glossary. Handbook of Research on Mobile Ad-Hoc Network Applications and Advancements will also cover recent advances in mobile and wireless test beds and related research infrastructures that will further improve the scope and possibilities of mobile ad hoc networks.
