Topics/Call fo Papers

The 2015 International Workshop on Computational Health Science (CHS-15) will be held Wednesday, September 9th, 2015 in Atlanta, co-located with ACM BCB 2015.
The workshop is aimed at computer scientists with an interest in developing solutions to health care and public health problems, and at health and social scientists with an interest in leveraging computational techniques to tackle complex health issues.
Computational Health Science (CHS) represents the application of innovative computer science tools, including social media and data mining, to address health-related questions and problems. It integrates the analytical strengths and skills of health scientists and computer scientists, supported by complementary expertise from other researchers and practitioners as applicable (e.g., psychologists, sociologists). The goal of CHS is to better understand how technology can affect human interactions and enhance supporting environments by conducting innovative research that will inform future practice directed at changing health behavior through improved surveillance, communication, networking and targeted intervention.
Topics
Authors working on the following topics are invited to submit a paper to the workshop. This list is not exhaustive, and other topics, strongly associated with computational helath science, will be considered.
- Mining social media for health surveillance
- Analysis of social media data
- Agent-based modeling
- Using social media for targeted intervention
- Social network analysis
- Ethical issues when mining social media data
Submissions and Review Process
Submitted papers should present original, unpublished work, covering research or a case study. Papers should be no longer than 8 pages in the same ACM format as that of regular papers for ACM-BCB 2015 (see http://www.acm.org/sigs/publications/proceedings-t...).
All submitted papers will be evaluated on the basis of relevance, significance of contribution, technical quality, scholarship, and quality of presentation, by at least two members of the program committee. All accepted papers of registered authors will be included in the ACM BCB proceedings published by the ACM Digital Library.
Papers should be submitted via Easy Chair at https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=chs15.
