Today, over a billion of us are Online Social Network (OSN) netizens, pervading many aspects of our daily lives such as social interactions, news discovery, sharing emotions, recommendations and feedback, professional networking, and social reinforcements. OSN usage is influencing our societal and cultural norms, and transforming the way we see ourselves and communicate with others. Additionally, OSNs have become a medium for commercial, political, and malicious activities. Brands have greater budget for advertising on OSNs, governments heavily monitor them for political activity or matters of national security, and operators report a constant elevation in the sophistication level of spamming and phishing attacks. Understanding and improving this complex and evolving ecosystem is a highly multidisciplinary challenge.
ACM COSN (Conference on Online Social Networks) is organized with this challenge in mind. We aim to bring the research community and industry practitioners together from data networking and systems, information retrieval and data mining, security and privacy, business and economics, and computational linguistics. Our goal is to foster cross-disciplinary scientific discussions in addition to providing a premier publication venue that features high quality research from academia and industry focused around the study of OSN ecosystem. Please see this year's Call For Papers for more details. COSN '15 Program Committee Co-chairs:
- Rakesh Agrawal
- Matthias Grossglauser (École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne, Switzerland (EPFL))
