The theme of the 19th Retina International World Congress is “Foresight -- when East meets West”.
The Congress will help to promote better education about Retinal Degenerative diseases to communities in Great China region where studies show 1 out of 5 patients in the world reside. It aims to awake their concern on the diseases and related developments in seeking possible treatments. The Greater China region has large potential to bring new findings, even further breakthroughs that would be helpful to onward research. Besides, Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) applied to retinal degenerative diseases could be a unique and impressive topic of the Congress.
To achieve the main objectives, the Congress will try its best efforts to organize a diversity of substantive programs, activities, forums, work-shops and latest communications/releases. These would serve to build up mutual support and networking platforms for affected persons and to strengthen relationships among all parties concerned, including affected persons and their family members and friends, as well as researchers and professionals, such as scientists, ophthalmologists and medical experts from different places in and beyond the Greater China region.
