Wireless and mobile networks have doubtless received great research interests because of their broad applications for a variety of media content services. With the advance of modern wireless and mobile communications (e.g., WLAN, MANET, VANET, WiMAX, 3G, 3.5G, LTE, and emerging 5G), there is an obvious phenomenon that users can attach to wireless and mobile systems anywhere anytime through their mobile devices. Wireless and mobile networks have special characteristics, such as highly variable connectivity, disconnection, location-dependency, energy and resource sensitivity, communication asymmetry, high bandwidth expense, security threat and defense, and so on. All these pose research challenges that do not exist in traditional network settings. New techniques are thus required in order to leverage data delivery and access security for efficient and reliable applications and services in wireless and mobile networks.
Wireless and mobile network progress is a cross-disciplinary research involving data communication, networking, information dissemination, and security. The main goal of the workshop is to gather scientists from these areas together to foster collaboration and sparkle discussion on various aspects of this research field, including but not limited to, wireless or mobile users’ scenarios and usage cases, network system and platform design, development and deployment, data dissemination, data security, and secure information services. The workshop also aims to discuss data delivery and security in various networking environments such as vehicular, cellular and/or large-scale heterogeneous networks.
The workshop will be organized in a way to allow close interaction among participants. Papers will be selected based on the potential to sparkle discussion and innovative research ideas. The authors of the selected papers will be arranged to present their work in 20 minutes followed by 5-10 minutes of discussion.
Selected papers will be recommended to publish into the International Journal of Internet Protocol Technology, Special Issue on Advanced Safety and Security Techniques in Vehicular Networks
