Curling is a sport in which players slide stones on a sheet of ice towards a target area. The purpose
is to accumulate the highest score for a game; points are scored for the stones resting closest to the
center of the house at the conclusion of each end, which is completed when both teams have thrown
all of their stones. Curling that needs advanced tactics is called "chess on ice." However, there is
very little research of tactics on curling. Since curling has much what should be taken into
consideration, arguing only about tactics is difficult for it. In order to argue about tactics of curling
deeply, various viewpoints about curling need to be researched. In this special session, many kinds
of researches on curling will be gathered; game informatics, data base, artificial intelligence,
cognitive science, sports science, robotics, and so on.
