QECPMAN 2015 - International Workshop on QoS and Energy aware communication protocols in Mobile Ad Hoc Networks (QECPMAN'15)
Topics/Call fo Papers
MANET (Mobile Ad Hoc Networks) is a data transmission system, designed to provide a connection of the computer peripherals that composes the network independently from their locations. MANET uses radio waves rather than a cable infrastructure to communicate. This new mode of communication creates new features specific to the mobile environment: frequent disconnections, a limited throughput communication and resources, and energy sources limited, a degraded QoS, ineffective security, etc. In such network, MAC (Medium Access Control) protocols must provide an efficient access to the wireless medium and reduces the data interference. Another problem in MANET is how to adapt the proposed classical routing protocols to such environment characterized with strong mobility of users and frequent topology change. At transport level too, unfortunately, the most part of protocols are originally developed for fixed networks like TCP protocol, and are not suitable to the characteristics of wireless links and the mobility of nodes. In MANET, applications may require guarantees on some QoS parameters like throughput, on delay, losses rate, jitter, etc. The QoS can be defined as a set of parameters or necessary services that must be performed in order to optimize application performance. The performance of such parameters tends to degrade since they are confronted to diverse and frequent problems, such as broken connections, the problems of the hidden node and exposed node, collisions, poor energy, etc. Also, in such networks, mobile nodes are designed to work for months or years (for example, sensor networks). The energy of these nodes must be used efficiently in order to maximize the life of the network. Note that once a node has exhausted its energy, it is considered defective. We then see appear specificity of some protocols such as MAC, routing and transport with QoS and Energy.
In this workshop, researchers are encouraged to submit papers focused on the design, development, analysis or optimization of communication protocols and solutions for better performance of mobile ad hoc networks in term of QoS and energy efficiency. This workshop targets to gather researchers from academia and industrial sectors to present analytical research, simulations, practical results, position papers addressing the pros and cons of specific proposals, and advances in communication protocols, QoS and energy efficiency in mobile ad hoc networks. The topics suggested by the workshop can be discussed in term of concepts, state of the art, standards, protocols, solutions, deployments, implementations, running experiments and applications.
TOPICS OF INTEREST
Papers describing original, previously unpublished research work, experimental efforts, practical experiences, and industrial and commercial developments in all aspects of QoS and Energy for Mobile Ad hoc Networks are solicited. Potential topics include, but are not limited to the following areas of interest:
QoS and energy aware MAC protocols,
QoS and energy aware routing protocols,
QoS and energy aware transport protocols,
QoS and energy cross layers solutions,
Algorithms and approaches oriented QoS and energy,
Evaluation and optimization of QoS and Energy solutions.
