EWAD 2015 - International Workshop on Emerging Web Applications Design
Topics/Call fo Papers
Nowadays, the design of emerging Web applications requires developers to signicantly enlarge their vision to take into account: the kind of application that is being developed, the application domain, the target users and the context of usage.
Web 2.0+ applications rely on the collection, aggregation and fruition of user produced contents, which (partially) substitute traditional, enterprise-like data, produced and delivered in a controlled, centralised way, thus also leading to issues of managing large data volumes, featured by a great variety, delivered and used at high rate. Mashup application development enables easy and fast deployment of new web artefacts through the composition of on-the-shelf, third party components, leading to increased combination possibilities. Design of web interfaces is getting a more and more complex task, due to the availability of multiple devices and hardware facilities (ranging from traditional PCs and laptops up to mobile devices, where also geo-localization might be fruitfully exploited for providing a targeted, personal delivery of information), and multiple sources of information.
Moving in this scenario requires designers to face new challenges in searching and managing data, composing functionalities, designing interfaces, also considering scalability issues. The proposed workshop intends to stimulate a fruitful discussion on how conceptual tools can help in dealing with new Web application design issues.
