Smart mobile devices like camera phones are true “multimedia” devices capable of managing acquisition, processing, transmission, and presentation of multiple modal data such as image, video, audio and text information. They are also ubiquitous social networking devices. Recent rapid development of mobile hardware, wireless network, and cloud computing creates an urgent demand on intelligent and scalable multimedia computing technologies and systems for mobile devices.
Multiple sensors, high-resolution screen, more powerful CPU, 3G Internet access, and cloud computing are all necessary enabling technologies to this end. In particular, cloud computing provides powerful supports on computation, storage and networking, which are essential for realizing scalable mobile multimedia applications. The motivation of this workshop is to timely address the challenges and opportunities in applying advanced multimedia technology, cloud computing, pattern recognition, signal processing!
, user interface, and graphics techniques to mobile systems, given the proliferating market of mobile and portable devices that have been widely spreading in both consumer (e.g. smart phones, music/video player, mobile TV, and digital cameras) and enterprise markets (e.g.
medical, control, surveillance, etc.). The focus of this workshop is on bringing together relevant researchers to explore intelligent multimedia technologies and applications for mobile devices, especially to leverage the emerging media cloud computing platform. The proposed scope of this workshop includes, but not limited to, the following areas:
? Mobile multimedia experience sharing, archiving, indexing, management and retrieval ? Mobile augmented reality ? Mobile vision ? Mobile video games ? Mobile multimodal interfaces ? Mobile multimedia search (visual, aural and multimodality) ? Mobile multimedia computing for communication and social networking ? Mobile and smart environment applications for the visually/aurally impaired ? Mobile e-Health ? Interactive image/video/audio parsing/annotation/analysis ? Computational methods for multiple sensor fusion ? Multimedia management, browsing, visualization, and authoring on mobile devices (with/without cloud) ? Surveillance, biometric, authentication and security technologies in mobile and cloud environment ? Mobile content delivery/video streaming ? Mobile navigation, content retrieval, authentication ? Personalization, navigation and recommender systems in mobile and cloud environment ? Mobile oriented media processing for communication, networking and search ? Entertainment applications in mobile and cloud environment ? Mobile multimedia information forensics ? Other “mobile + cloud” multimedia technologies, applications and systems
