ISConference 2015 - 25th International Sculpture Conference: New Frontiers in Sculpture
Topics/Call fo Papers
The International Sculpture Center is seeking a diverse and comprehensive program, covering topics relevant to sculpture today, at the 25th International Sculpture Conference: New Frontiers in Sculpture in 2015.
All panel proposals must be submitted electronically via the form on the ISC website. No faxed, mailed, or emailed abstracts will be accepted.
The deadline for submissions is March 1, 2015. All late proposals will automatically be placed on a waiting list. Please read the proposal guidelines before submitting a proposal.
The year’s conference will focus on New Frontiers in Sculpture and proposals submitted should fall into the below categories. We are looking for panels which explore the following topics and ideas:
Creative Placemaking
This topic explores examples of creative placemaking today, and its impact for artists, communities, and economies.
Art Making in Rural and Urban Communities
Discussing artist led initiatives in rural and urban settings world-wide
Art on the Borders
This topic will focus on visual culture arising from borders between peoples, cultures, and territories.
Socially Engaged Art Practice
To discuss projects in social practice art, effecting change through focuses including food, politics, performance, environment, and community, among many others.
Desert as Site: New Earthworks
In recent years, artists have migrated to the desert for the expanse of wide open spaces and possibility. This topic explores the projects, process, and stories that re-define the land art movement of the 1960s.
Multi-Disciplinary Artist Led Investigations
More than ever, artists investigate multiple disciplines as part of their practice. This topic will explore the fusions, connections, and collaborations in multi-disciplinary projects, and how these projects encourage new perspectives, education, and awareness.
Art in Unknown Places
Highlighting sculptural practices and possibility in remote and un-discovered areas
Arcology, Architecture, and an Exploration in Utopias
Arcology, a utopian practice founded by Paolo Soleri, is the fusion of art and ecology to create a low-impact, connected, and healthy society. This topic examines utopian practice in contemporary sculpture and its impact on a global footprint.
Wildcard Topic
Including the business of being an artist, artistic process, navigating public art commissions, and other topics in contemporary sculpture.
