The 4th IEEE/IFIP International Workshop on Ubiquitous UnderWater Sensor Network 2010 (UUWSN 2010)
http://www.uuwsn.org/
December 11-13, 2010, Hong Kong SAR, China
In conjunction with the 2010 IEEE/IFIP International Conference
on Embedded and Ubiquitous Computing (EUC 2010)

Overview / Scope
Whatever more than 70% of the surface of the earth is covered with the oceans, the oceans remain one of the least explored frontiers to be a treasure-house of resources. Oceans serve as the main arteries of transportation between continents, climate regulation, food supplier and natural resources retrieval such as oil and natural gas. For these reasons, we have significant interests in monitoring aquatic environments for environmental, scientific, commercial, safety, and military reasons. Recently, by researchers having a lot of studies for Underwater Acoustic Sensor Network(UW-ASN), they try to apply sensor network concept in underwater environments to utilize in field of practical use such as ocean monitoring, resource inquiry, pollution supervision and disaster prevention.
Ubiquitous Underwater acoustic sensor network (UW-ASN) is new area of ubiquitous sensor networks in underwater environments which has challenges to be overcome such in long propagation delay resulting from low speed of sound propagation, severely limited range-dependent bandwidth, attenuation and time-varying multipath propagation. All the above distinct features of Ubiquitous Underwater acoustic sensor network (UW-ASN) give birth to new challenges areas for every level of the network protocol suite.
This workshop will support an opportunity for industry and academic professionals to discuss the latest issues and progress in the area of UW-ASN. The workshop will publish high quality papers which are closely related to the various theories and practical applications in UW-ASN. Furthermore, we hope that this workshop will provide us with a good chance to share creative ideas regarding UW-ASN with other researchers and engineers from institutions around the world.

Topics
Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:

Submission Information
Submissions should include abstract, 5-10 keywords, and the e-mail address of the corresponding author and be in PDF format. Each submission must not exceed 6 pages in the IEEE 8.5”x 11” two-column format with 10-12 point font (Template: DOC or LaTeX), including tables and figures. Each submission should be regarded as an undertaking that, should the submission be accepted, at least one of the authors must attend the conference to present the work in order that the accepted paper can be put into digital library. The final version of an accepted paper will be limited to 8 pages in IEEE proceeding format.
We invite you to submit a full paper describing new and original results, for oral presentation. Please follow the EUC 2010 guidelines for more information on paper submission. Submission implies the willingness of at least one of the authors to register and present the paper. Please include a cover page which lists the following:
Name.
Affiliation.
Address and e-mail address of each author.
Name of the presenting author.
Name of the contact author.
A maximum of 10 keywords.
Abstract profile of authors
Each paper submitted will be reviewed by at least two referees in the relevant areas. Accepted papers, after revision according to the referee comments, have to be presented orally at the workshop and will be published in proceedings of the EUC 2010 conference by IEEE Computer Society. The selected best papers will be published in special issues of journals, including International Journal of Parallel, Emergent and Distributed Systems and Journal of Embedded Computing (pending now).
Submitting a paper to the workshop means that, if the paper is accepted, at least one author should attend the workshop and present the paper. For no-show authors, their papers will be removed from the digital library after the conference and their affiliations will be notified.
A paper must be written in English and must be no longer than 6 pages, following EUC conference manuscript guidelines, available at http://cse.stfx.ca/~euc10/sub/. Only electronic submission is accepted, and the submission must be made by workshop guideline.
