WebQuality 2015 - 5th International Workshop on Web Quality
Topics/Call fo Papers
5th International Workshop of Web Quality is a well-respected forum for presenting novel research results devoted to analyzing and improving quality of information on the Web. Web content quality research is even more important than ever before, as the Internet has become by far the most important source of information for many people.
The consequences of spreading non-credible or incorrect information may be disastrous. For example, it is well-known that people tend to use search engines to diagnose themselves and, what is even worse, to choose from treatment options. False claim published on the Association Press Twitter account about an attack on Barack Obama wiped out $136 billion from S&P 500 index. In another example, mistaken warnings during emergency situation may cause deaths of many people.
Improving the quality of the Web content users encounter should limit further development of this phenomenon. This workshop is focused (among others) on uncovering distorted and biased content, measuring quality of web content (disregarding content type), modeling authors identity, trust and credibility and the role of groups in assuring high quality and trustful content for users .
To encourage more research in the area of web content quality estimation, two recently published datasets have been made available for researchers and practitioners. There is a special track during the workshop for papers in which one of the dataset (or both) is used.
As in the previous years, workshop is co-located with the World Wide Web conference. All accepted papers will be published by ACM within the WWW companion volume.
