The number of devices connected to the Internet is significantly increasing while at the same time new applications and services with significantly higher expectations from the mobile communication are introduced to the users. This foreseen market growth has urged mobile operators to examine new ways to plan, deploy and manage their networks for improving coverage, boosting their network’s capacity, and reducing their costs. To provide a solution towards meeting new and evermore stringent end-user requirements, mobile stakeholders are already preparing the technology roadmap for next generation networks, which is collectively referred to as "5G". From the network perspective, 5G should address various spectrum, capacity, management complexity and cost issues. From a user perspective, 5G should significantly transform wireless service experience by enabling a uniform service experience anytime anywhere, and by providing a high level of service quality. Furthermore, from service perspective, 5G should enable delivering new services in a faster time-frame, and through more programmable interfaces.
To this end, this workshop cordially invites researchers to share latest research insights and present key and emerging results on the new mobile communications technology enablers, including novel networking protocols, wireless techniques, new hardware designs, and tactile Internet applications. Technical papers describing recent research results and controversial but substantiated opinions that may influence the direction of future R&D work are solicited.
Research topics of interest include, but are not limited to the following topics as 5G enabler technologies and applications:
Mobile Networking for 5G and beyond
? Small cell architecture for 5G and beyond
? Cloudification & Virtualisation of access and core
? Programmable and software-defined radio, and network
? Self-organising network and topology
? Green Communications
New wireless communication technologies for 5G
? Millimetre wave
? Massive MIMO and new deployment concepts
? Novel waveform design
? Multi-Radio Networks and Interworking
? Duplexing and simultaneous transmit and receive
Circuit Designs for 5G technologies
? Low-Latency and Low-Power Circuits
? Reconfigurable multi-standard systems
? Heterogeneous seamless positioning
Tactile Internet Applications
? MTC communications for smart cities
? Wireless Robotics for medical, and industrial applications
? Multi-modal data compression
Paper submission:
Papers must be tailored to the problems of 5G & Beyond. Only originally unpublished contributions and invited articles will be considered for the workshop. The papers should be formatted according to the conference guidelines (link here). Authors should submit a PDF version of their complete paper via EDAS (link here) according to the timetable below:
? Submission deadline: 10 January 2015
? Author Notification: 14 February 2015
? Final Manuscript: 28 February 2015
All submissions should be written in English with a maximum paper length of six (6) printed pages (minimum 10-point font) including figures, without incurring additional page charges. One (1) additional page is allowed with a charge of $100, if accepted. Accepted papers must be presented at the workshop. The presenter must register for the workshop before the deadline for author registration. http://icc2015.ieee-icc.org/registration
Failure to register before the deadline will result in automatic withdrawal of the paper from the workshop proceedings and the program. All papers selected for publication will be included in the IEEE ICC proceedings and IEEE digital library. Refer to authors guidelines for more information =
