Abstract:
Since December 2012, the Chinese Satellite Navigation System ? Beidou system, has been fully operational to cover the Asia-Pacific region. Compared with other GNSS systems available, the Beidou system has many unique features. In this presentation, various services of the Beidou system will be introduced. The performances of Beidou will be evaluated using real observation data. Some applications of Beidou and other GNSS systems in China and Hong Kong will be highlighted to demonstrate the advantages of the Beidou system.
About the speaker:
Prof. Wu Chen is a professor at Department of Land Surveying and Geoinformatics (LSGI), Hong Kong Polytechnic University. He received his BSc degree from Chinese University of Science and Technology, MSc from the Institute of Geodesy and Geophysics, China, and PhD from University of Newcastle Upon Tyne, UK. He has been actively working on GNSS related research for over 30 years and has been working on a large number of research projects funded by universities, governments, and industries. His main research interests are GNSS applications, GNSS performance evaluation, and system integration. He has published over 300 technical papers in various journals and international conferences.
