Plant-Microbe Interaction: Symbiotic Interactions
Different from other organisms, plants do not have eyes, ears or fingers to detect any threat that puts its life in danger. Instead, plants have to rely on different proteins, metabolites, and molecular processes to deal with this big task. Among these challenges, plants have to be able to distinguish between pathogenic and mutualistic microorganisms. At the beginning of any plant-microbe interaction, either symbiotic or pathogenic, the plant recognizes the microorganism as an intruder. Thus, the important questions that researchers around the world try to answer are how do plants distinguish between pathogens and symbionts? how is the pathogenesis response regulated or attenuated during a symbiosis? and how are the earliest steps of the plant-symbiont regulated?
We invite overview and original papers describing current and expected challenges regarding the regulation of the plant-microbe interactions. Potential topics include, but are not limited to:
Regulation of the earliest steps of the plant-symbiont interactions
Regulation of the innate immunity response during the plant-symbiont interaction
Genome-wide analyses (transcriptomics or proteomics) to identify new regulators of the plant-symbiont interactions
Before submission authors should carefully read over the journal’s Author Guidelines, which are located at http://www.hindawi.com/journals/tswj/guidelines/. Prospective authors should submit an electronic copy of their complete manuscript through the journal Manuscript Tracking System at http://mts.hindawi.com/submit/journals/tswj/botany... according to the following timetable:
