Overview: OCR has announced the details of their new 2014 and beyond audit program. We also now know the findings of the 2012 program which is useful in defining where they will scrutinize in 2014 and beyond. OCR publishes the rules and methodologies surrounding the audits and the criteria, called 'protocols' they will evaluate. This presentation will examine the latest audit protocols available and illustrate how performance of required security and privacy risk analysis can also prepare your organization for audits by the Feds and increasingly other enforcement agencies, including the States.

The Office for Civil Rights and HHS have announced that in 2014, 2015 and 2016 there will be audit programs where Covered Entities (CE) and Business Associates (BA) will be audited according to comprehensive audit criteria published by the government. These audits are supposed to begin with information gathering letters, sometimes in late 2014.
