15th European AIDS Conference organized by the European AIDS Clinical Society (EACS).
We will do our best to offer an exciting scientific conference program, composed of state-of-the-art plenary lectures, including meet the expert and abstract-driven sessions presenting the latest research in the field of HIV medicine and to stimulate discussions and educational exchange. From the experience of previous conferences, we expect more than 800 abstracts from over 70 countries. The CCIB - ‘Centre de Convencions Internacional de Barcelona’ - will serve as a top-quality, modern congress venue.
As a special feature, we are happy that the 17th International Workshop on Co-morbidities & Adverse Drug Reactions in HIV is affiliated with this EACS Conference to allow for stimulating synergies in addressing issues concerning long-term care which are of common interest.
HIV remains a highly dynamic area of medicine. To present and critically discuss new knowledge is paramount for good clinical practice and care, be it to address ongoing transmission, hepatitis C co-infection, co-morbidities or other important and upcoming topics.
In the past years, EACS has been implementing its new governance structure to optimize efficient work flow and broaden participation to its main activities. We also aim to reach out better to different demands within Europe. The organization of courses for training and education, the development and issuing of regularly updated guidelines and the support of younger HIV experts remain most important tasks.
One of the key goals of the EACS in organizing this biennial European conference is to promote an interest in HIV clinical research amongst young researchers / clinicians from across Europe at an early stage in their career. We are therefore pleased that, as with earlier conferences, scholarships will be granted to serve this important exchange. Also, we have planned various training opportunities here at this upcoming conference.
The first EACS conference took place in Brussels in 1987. Almost 30 years later, it is our special privilege and great pleasure to welcome you to the 15th edition in Barcelona.
