The 3rd International Workshop on Optical Wireless Communications - 2014 will be held at Hotel Vidamar Resort, Funchal, Madeira Island, Portugal on September 17th, 2014
NThe ever increasing demand for higher bandwidths motivated by current portable equipment is motivating new communication paradigms. The passage from 3G to 4G and current trends towards 5G, are advancing new technologies able to mitigate the spectrum crunch problem. It has been recognized that advanced network management and cognitive radio technologies may promote a better usage of the available bandwidth. However, with the tendency of the cells to become confined other technologies seem to offer better interconnectivity. This is the case of Optical Wireless Communication technologies, which are able to address efficiently high user density scenarios and offering wide spectrum availability. In particular Free Space Optical and Visible Light Communications systems are seen as promising technologies to integrate these future trends.
The International Workshop on Optical Wireless communication emerged as a specialized forum under the frame work of the IC1101 COST action (OPTICWISE). This year will be the third realization of this special event. Paper contributions on OWC are requested. The main topical lines of the event are:
- Advanced photonic components
- Indoor optical high-speed systems
- Outdoor optical wireless systems realizations
- Radio over Free Space Optical communications
- Propagation modelling and characterization in OWC
- Physical layer design in OWC
- Networking protocols
- Emerging application areas and Market perspectives in OWC
- Visible light communications
- Optical wireless channel modelling
- Vehicle-to-vehicle and vehicle-to-base-station optical wireless communications
- Optical wireless sensor networks
* Submission and Review Process
Papers submitted to IWOW 2014 must not have been published, submitted,
or accepted for publication elsewhere. IEEE policy regarding
plagiarism and duplicate submission/publication will be strictly
enforced. Papers must be submitted electronically via EDAS
(https://edas.info/uploadPaper.php?m=1570001349). The submissions should not exceed 4 pages,
and should follow the IEEE double-column format for conferences.
Templates are available on the conference website.
Submitted papers will undergo a peer review process, coordinated by
the TPC, and evaluated for originality, technical correctness,
relevance, and quality of presentation. The proceedings will be
published in the IWOW 2014 Proceedings and in IEEExplore(tm).
