We are kindly inviting you to participate at the 8th Annual Symposium of Pharmaceutical Solid State Research Cluster (PSSRC) which will take place from 16th to 17th September, 2014, at the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Ljubljana (UL) in Ljubljana (Cluster Members Part, Closed Day), and on 18th September at Grand Hotel Bernardinin Portorož (Open Day) as a Satellite Symposium of 10th Central European Symposium on Pharmaceutical Technology (CESPT2014). The Symposium will be hosted by the UL Faculty of Pharmacy and Slovenian Pharmaceutical Society, Section for Pharmaceutical Technology.
The Pharmaceutical Solid State Research Cluster (PSSRC) includes 11 academic teams, located at the Universities of Cambridge (United Kingdom), Copenhagen (Denmark), Dusseldorf (Germany), Ghent (Belgium), Graz (Austria), Helsinki (Finland), Leuven (Belgium), Lille (France), Lisbon (Portugal), Ljubljana (Slovenia) and Otago (New Zealand) (www.pssrc.org). The aim of this consortium is to overcome current limitations in the formulation of solid pharmaceutical dosage forms.
Every year, the cluster members meet for an annual symposium that lasts for 3days and one of these is called “Open Day”. It is open to the public and mainly consisting of oral presentation of senior cluster members. An important goal of this day is to present the research activity and capability of the PSSRC and to initiate a fruitful collaboration with the industry, academia and regulatory bodies.
In 2014, the focus of Open Day Symposium will be on Functionality related characteristics of materials for controlled release. Invited speakers will address all the relevant aspects of APIs and excipients used in the solid dosage formulation which are connected with successful formulation strategies and manufacturing processes. In addition to these invited talks given by leading researchers in the field, an industrial exhibition will allow an update on the advanced characterization techniques available nowadays.
The other 2 days (Cluster Member Part, Closed Day) are dedicated to the younger researchers, PhD students and post-docs to present their current research and to share and discuss the challenges with colleagues.
The Symposium will offer PhD students and all other participants during the Cluster Member Days (16 -17th September) to present their research as oral presentations to an international auditorium and would be therefore an excellent opportunity for scientific interactions and networking with colleagues inside and outside of PSSRC.
More information including registration and sponsorship/exhibitor package will be found online in January 2014.
Ljubljana, as the capital of Slovenia is easily accessible by air, railway or car from all European countries and September is nice and appropriate time for enjoying natural and cultural beauties of the country. We believe that participation at the 8th Annual PSSRC Symposium in Ljubljana and Portorož will be for all of you an unforgettable scientific and personal experience.
PSSRC Members are cordially invited to prolong their stay in Portorož with attending the 10th Central European Symposium on Pharmaceutical Technology!
Looking forward to see you in Ljubljana and Portorož!
