MMCAI 2014 - International Workshop on Modeling and Monitoring of Computer Assisted Interventions
Topics/Call fo Papers
In medical imaging, augmented reality environments aim to provide the physician with enhanced perception of the patient either by fusing various imaging modalities or by presenting image-derived information overlaid on the physician's view, establishing a direct relation between the image and the patient. This workshop is intended to bring together researchers in computer science, electrical engineering, physics, and clinical medicine engaged in the development of augmented environments for image-guided interventions. The scientific program will focus on the dissemination of innovative research in image registration and fusion, calibration, visualization and 3D perception, hardware and optical design, real-time implementations, as well as validation, clinical applications and clinical evaluation. Multimodality visualization is specifically highlighted as a major theme that has led to state-of-the-art developments in this growing research area.
Themes
computer-assisted intervention systems and robotics
visualisation and interaction
general medical image computing
The objective will be to attract novel scientific contributions that offer solutions to the technical problems in these areas as well as papers describing complete systems and clinical applications. Potential clinical benefit will be a core subject and contributors will be expected to place their work in this context by describing necessary developments, research questions and any potential obstacles that must be overcome before clinical introduction of their technologies.
