With the advances of vision technology, the possibility of making cars see like humans is not far from reality. There is a desire of automotive manufacturers to make the expensive active safety features currently marketed for luxury cars available on more mainstream cars as well. Relatively cheap sensors such as cameras can make it possible. The challenge for a computer vision researcher is how to make cars see like a human by utilizing information from images as projections of the 3D world. With the ever changing environment and split second decision making, we have to design robust yet fast algorithms to handle all kinds of operational difficulties.
This workshop invites papers with original research contributions to vision based technologies for intelligent vehicles ranging from environment awareness and advanced driver assistance to self-driving and navigation functions, including but not limited to these topics:
Vision-based mapping and localization techniques
Vision-based advanced driver assistance systems
On board calibration of multiple cameras
Detection and tracking vehicles and pedestrians in single camera or camera network
Performance evaluation in visual navigation
Vision-based safety awareness systems
Sensor fusion technologies involving cameras
