NexIENet 2012 - Workshop on Technologies for Next Generation Industrial and Embedded Communication Networks
Topics/Call fo Papers
Traditional industrial segments such as automotive, aerospace, and industrial automation are facing drastic changes in architecture paradigms as well as in design and development methods and tools because of new functional content ranging from infotainment to advanced safety features, autonomous driving/control, and remote diagnostics. Industrial and embedded systems are networked and complex, with requirements for high communication rates, reliability, dependability, determinism and timeliness. Today’s architecture paradigms and communication standards are challenged by these requirements, and proposals for alternative communication technologies are emerging. For example, a new ecosystem built around real-time and time-triggered Ethernet solutions and Dedicated Short Range Communication (DSRC) arises in lieu of the automotive business and technical needs, complementing the traditional offer of CAN and FlexRay.
The objective of this workshop is to provide an overview of the technical and business challenges, opportunities and solutions for new communication solutions and standards. We hope to stimulate discussion on the entire development chain, from the description of the industry requirements and challenges; to the evaluation and analysis of present, and potential future landscape of communication technologies; and the methods and the tools for the analysis, management and possibly configuration synthesis of existing and new network standards.
