LITCRI 2014 - Literary Criticism Conference
Topics/Call fo Papers
The concept of “world literature” which was first suggested by Goethe while he was talking with his friend and student Johann Peter Eckermann on the 31th of January, 1827, started to be discussed specially after mid-20th century. Although nobody can demarcates, it became a field of study by the help of works by David Damrosch, Pascale Casanova and Franco Moretti.
As we enter the twenty-first century, our understanding of “world literature” has expanded beyond the classic canon of European masterpieces and entered a far-reaching inquiry into the variety of the world’s literary cultures and their distinctive reflections and refractions of the political, economic, and religious forces sweeping the globe. Because of this situation global power relations, transnationalism, translation and relativity have come into prominence.
World literature which is being studied intensely reveals new questions, finds new answers by the help of other disciplines and suggests new perspectives for the reader.
DAKAM's LIT CRI ’14 will search for new answers by bringing forward new questions of world literature and will question if it is possible to create a literary system in a world in which power relations always change.
