Introduction
For release in the Advances in Systems Analysis, Software Engineering, and High Performance Computing (ASASEHPC) Book Series.
Series Editor: Vijayan Sugumaran (Oakland University, USA)
ISSN: 2327-3453
The Advances in Systems Analysis, Software Engineering, and High Performance Computing (ASASEHPC) Book Series brings together research in the areas of distributed computing, systems and software engineering, high performance computing, and service science. This collection of publications is useful for academics, researchers, and practitioners seeking the latest practices and knowledge in this field.
All computing systems, from mobile to supercomputers, are becoming heterogeneous parallel computers using both multi-core CPUs and many-thread Graphical Processing Unit (GPU)s for higher power efficiency and computation throughput. While the computing community is racing to build tools and libraries to ease the use of these heterogeneous parallel computing systems, effective and confident use of these systems will always require knowledge about the low-level programming interfaces in these systems.
The proposed book aims at understanding different performance issues on High Performance Computing (HPC) GPU cluster based on multi core, CPU/GPU accelerators. The book is to integrate the current generation programming paradigms like:
OPenMP
MPI
Pthreads
OpenCL
CUDA enabled GPUs on heterogeneous HPC GPU clusters.
It covers the advanced topics on mixed programming on Multicore processors and CUDA /GPU systems. Further, the book covers the aspects of HPC GPU cluster health monitoring and power efficiency issues.
The book will extend the in-depth exposure of application kernels on HPC GPU clusters in the domains like:
Bio-informatics
Image processing
Computational physics, etc.
Objective
This book explores the significant advantages that GPU programming techniques offered in the fields of mathematical and scientific computing domains.
The book helps to identify the interesting and exciting areas of applying techniques for large scale computing and to design application kernels based on numerical methods on the HPC GPU cluster.
Target Audience
The target audiences also include the graduate students, PhD scholars, faculty members, scientists, software developers seeking to carry out research/ develop software in GPU HPC clusters.
This book will be useful for the addresses perspective users of distributed computing, parallel computing, Visual computing and Scientific & Engineering applications.
Recommended Topics
The proposed book will be having around 21 Chapters on the following aspects.
Advanced Topics GPU programming & CUDA Architecture
CUDA enabled NVIDEA GPUs, CUDA SDK/APIs
GPU programming for scientific & numerical linear algebra computation on GPU clusters
HPC- GPU cluster in AMD & NVIDEA
Green computing and its impact
Heterogeneous GPU cluster computing with power efficiency
Nsight Eclipse Edition: High Productivity IDE for CUDA Development on Linux & MacOS
GPU compilers and operating systems
GPU-based high performance computing applications
Emerging Topics in GPU programming
Case Studies of Large Scale computing using the GPU programming model
Practical Sessions using GPU programming
Feasibility of GPU programming techniques in large scale computing
Submission Procedure
Researchers and practitioners are invited to submit on or before May 30, 2014, a 2-3 page chapter proposal clearly explaining the mission and concerns of her or his proposed chapter. All submissions should be made through the link at the bottom of this page. Authors of accepted proposals will be notified by June 15, 2014 about the status of their proposals and sent chapter guidelines. Full chapters are expected to be submit15d by August 30, 2014. All submitted chapters will be reviewed on a double-blind review basis. Contributors may also be requested to serve as reviewers for this project.
