Topics/Call fo Papers

With the advancement of multimedia, sensor technology, and wireless communication, we witness a renewed interest in realizing Multimedia and Sensory Environment, such as Smart Home, Ambient Assisted Living (AAL), Intelligent Environment (IE) and the like. The goal of this movement is to promote a paradigm where our environments are technologically augmented with myriad sensors and heterogeneous devices that are sensitive to the presence of people and responsive to serve their needs. The cornerstone of such environment is the availability of vast amount of multimedia data that are generated based on the multimodal sensors and processed to identify the needs of the residents. Multimedia data are also contributed and shared by the residents to report and enhance their experience in the environment. Underlying to such environments are the different services that need to be defined, developed, and integrated in a holistic manner.
The emergence of multimedia and sensory environment services has brought many challenges, which are the core focus of this workshop. More specifically, this workshop aims to report on state-of-the-art techniques and methodologies to define, develop and integrate different services relevant to ambient multimedia and sensory environment. We seek high quality papers that were not published elsewhere and have scientific values relevant to several topics of interest including, but not limited to, the following:
- Multimedia service creation and integration
- Event and activity detection services
- Context identification services
- Interaction services in multimedia and sensory environment
- Multimedia processing and sharing services
- Multimedia services middle-ware
- Service discovery, selection and composition
- Sensing and actuation services
- Multimedia services for Assisted Living
- Sensor data collection, processing, and visualization services
- Entertainment and multimedia presentation services
- Smart healthcare and education services
- Emerging cloud services for multimedia and sensory environment
- Recommendation services for ambient environment
