Language inMind 2014 - International Conference on Studying language in mind: A multi-disciplinary approach to research methodology

We are pleased to announce the one-day conference “Studying language in mind: A multi-disciplinary approach to research methodology” to be held on 4th June, 2014 at the University of Birmingham.
As a group of postgraduate students with shared interest in language research, we are aware of the interdisciplinary nature of this research field and the variety of methodologies available to address different research questions. Recent advancement in research technologies brings about even more options to investigate research questions in psycholinguistics from different perspectives. Choosing the appropriate methodology considering all the drawbacks and potentials has become even more critical.
Seven experienced researchers whose works cover a wide range of topics are invited to talk about the methodological aspects of their research. Their approaches include behavioural and neurophysiological methods among others. We expect that delegates will learn more about the current and future trends in research methodology, including potentials and limitations of available methods. We hope that issues discussed in this conference will direct future research away from a data driven research culture, and towards the successful combination of sound theory and robust methodology.
Post-graduate students are invited to present their work in the format of posters and reflect on methodological aspects of their research.
