CLIB 2014 - Conference on Computational Linguistics in Bulgaria

The Department of Computational Linguistics (DCL) is proud to announce the launching of the Conference on Computational Linguistics in Bulgaria and the Call for Papers for its first issue.
CLIB is an international conference that aims to foster the NLP community in Bulgaria and further the cooperation with Bulgarian researchers working in NLP around the world through establishing a forum for sharing high-quality scientific work in all areas of computational linguistics and NLP.
The First CLIB Conference will be held in Sofia, Bulgaria, on September 4, 2014. It is organised by the team of the Department of Computational Linguistics at the Institute for Bulgarian Language in conjunction with the Faculty of Slavic Studies and the Faculty of Mathematics and Informatics at Sofia University.
CALL FOR PAPERS
CLIB will cover a broad spectrum of areas related to natural language processing, with a special focus on Bulgarian.
TOPICS OF INTEREST
CLIB-2014 invites contributions on original research, including, but not limited to the following topics:
semantics, syntax, grammar and the lexicon;
cognitive, mathematical and computational models of language processing;
discourse and pragmatics;
lexical semantics and ontologies;
word segmentation, tagging and chunking;
syntactic and semantic parsing;
generation and summarisation;
resource-light language processing;
paraphrasing, textual entailment and question answering;
NLP applications, tools and language resources (speech recognition, text-to-speech and spoken language understanding and modelling; information retrieval and information extraction; sentiment analysis, opinion mining and social media; NLP from/for the Web);
statistical and machine learning methods;
multilingual processing and applications, machine translation and translation aids.
Papers describing research in theoretical computational linguistics are also solicited. At the same time, we encourage all authors to include analysis of the impact of theories on technologies, and/or contributions of technologies to the advancement of theory, where appropriate. In-depth analysis and discussion of errors made in the experiments described and the influence of linguistically-motivated features on the performance of the methods and/or models applied will receive additional credit toward the overall evaluation score.
PAPER REQUIREMENTS
Papers should describe original work. While they should emphasise completed or well-advanced ongoing research rather than intended work, submissions describing a small, focused contribution or work in progress showing promising results are also invited. Papers should indicate clearly the state of completion of the reported results, with concrete evaluation and analysis of results, where appropriate.
Submissions will be judged on correctness, originality, technical strength, significance, meaningful comparison, thoroughness, contributions to research resources, relevance to the conference, and interest to the attendees.
Submissions presented at the conference should contain new material that has not been presented at any other meeting with publicly available proceedings.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR AUTHORS
There will be two categories of research papers: oral and poster presentations. All of the papers will be included in the conference proceedings.
The maximum submission length is 8 pages (A4) of content, plus two extra pages for references. Final versions should take into account reviewers' comments.
Papers will be presented orally or as posters as determined by the Programme Committee. While decisions on the mode of presentation will be based on the reviewers’ recommendations, author(s)' preferences may be taken into account, where appropriate. There will be no distinction in the proceedings between papers presented orally and as posters.
Papers shall be submitted in English. As reviewing will be blind, they should be anonymised with regard to the authors and/or their institutional affiliation and should not contain any other author-identifying information, including self-references revealing the author’s identity. Authors should also ensure that identifying meta-information is removed from all the files submitted for review.
Reviewing will be double blind. Each submission will be reviewed by at least two anonymous reviewers.
Papers must conform to the CLIB-2014 style guidelines, which are described here. The LaTex template along with the pertaining style and sample biblioraphy file can be downloaded from here here.
The only accepted format for submitted papers is in Adobe's PDF.
Submission and reviewing will be managed online by the EasyChair conference management system through the CLIB-2014 login page. Submissions must be uploaded on the EasyChair system by the submission deadlines. Submissions after that time will not be reviewed.
