SWCCL 2014 - Southwest Conference on Christianity and Literature

In December 2012 Paul Elie wrote a New York Times article entitled, "Has Fiction Lost Its Faith?" which sparked conversation among many literati about the status of faith and literature. This conference aims to continue this discussion. Papers will be considered from a variety of disciplines and fields but should pursue questions regarding the intersection of faith and literature.
Submission Deadline
Please submit papers to Jessica Hooten Wilson by March 15, 2014.
Decisions will be made by May 1, 2014.
Abstracts should be 500 word (max) sent on a Word or PDF document.
Registration
Presenters with any accepted paper must place membership with The Conference on Christianity and Literature (CCL). A $15 discount will be given for any presenter who joins and pays for the conference before August 1, 2014. Those who plan to attend the evening banquet on Friday, Nov. 15, should register for the conference by Oct. 15, 2014. Click here to register.

Keynote Speaker:
Randy Boyagoda, image courtasy of Ryerson UniversityWriter, critic and scholar Randy Boyagoda is Associate Professor of American Studies at Ryerson University in Toronto. He’s the author of four books - two novels, a scholarly monograph on twenty century American literature, and a biography of Fr. Richard John Neuhaus (forthcoming, 2015). He’s well-known for his literary criticism and writing on religion and American culture, and regularly contributes to publications including the New York Times, the Financial Times (UK), the Wall Street Journal, and First Things magazine. His first novel, Governor of the Northern Province, was a 2006 nominee for the ScotiaBank Giller Prize. His second novel, Beggar’s Feast, has been published to critical acclaim around the world, and was a 2012 nominee for the IMPAC Dublin Literary Prize and a New York Times Book Review Editor’s Choice.
