SEC2014 will be held for its ninth time since its beginning in 1997 with the pioneering efforts made by CSIR-Structural Engineering Research Centre (CSIR-SERC), Chennai and Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras. It is a biennial event which attracts structural engineers from India and abroad from both academia and industry. The convention, as much as it did in its history, will contribute to scientific developments in the field of structural engineering in a global sense. Over the years, SEC has evolved to be truly international with successive efforts from other premier institutes and organizations towards the development of this convention. We, at IIT Delhi, wholeheartedly invite you to participate and contribute to SEC2014.
Host Institute
The Civil Engineering Department at IIT Delhi is one of the oldest departments in the institute. It was established along with the inception of the institute in 1961. Since its inception, the department has grown leaps and bounds from offering just one of the finest bachelor level civil engineering program to various graduate level specialized research and industry programes to its present form of interdisciplinary research programs to solve the most difficult and pressing problems faced by the society. Over the years, the department has proudly rendered its services to conduct quality improvement programs for teachers and to empower industry personnel with scientific knowledge to overcome their challenges. The department with the help of its expert faculty also excels in industry sponsored research programs and consultancy activities to solve complex design, construction and maintance problems faced by infrastructure industry. The department continues to grow in its guided path to contribute to the creation of a better and a sustainable future.
