SWER 2014 - Sensor Web for Environmental Research

When dealing with environmental research, the availability of historic and real-time data is critical. To facilitate the access to and the analysis of relevant data sets, Sensor Web concepts are increasingly applied and form a complementary extension of spatial data infrastructures. Besides applications in research projects (e.g. EO2HEAVEN, TERENO, GEOWOW), also practical problems are solved with Sensor Web technology (e.g. the e-Reporting of ambient air quality in Europe, hydrological management applications, several INSPIRE topics).

The aim of this workshop is to gather an overview of current projects and experiences with the application of Sensor Web technology and to derive future research directions as well as requirements for Sensor Web implementations. Authors are invited to submit papers describing their own Sensor Web deployments, experiences, and implementations as well as thematic requirements how future advancements of the Sensor Web technology could benefit their work. In addition, a demo session will be held, where participants can present their Sensor Web applications in practice.
