BDCA 2014 - The First International Workshop on Big Data Computing and Application (BDCA 2014)

Computational Sciences and Optimization (CSO) are two important disciplines in modern
sciences, and CSO has been successfully applied to solve practical problems. Currently, with the
advance of Internet, web of things, mobile networks, and social networks, a huge data have been
generated and then rapidly increased. These data has been used to provide new opportunities and
solutions for solving real problems. However, some new challenges also arise in dealing with the
huge data with tight timing schedules, powerful computational algorithms and complex
optimization techniques. With the rapid development of big data analytics, social computing, and
cloud computing, these ones provide efficient and effective tools to solving computational
problems.
In order to strengthen academic exchanges and discussions on the fields of big data and cloud
computing with various applications, the First International Workshop on Big Data Computing
and Applications (BDCA 2014) will be held on 4-6 July 2014 in Beijing, China. The workshop on
BDCA2014 which is one part of the Seventh International Conference on Computational Sciences
and Optimization (CSO 2014) will provide a platform for communications. We are pleased to
invite you to attend this important event and to submit original papers. All accepted papers will be
published by IEEE Computer Society (EI and ISTP indexed). Some selected high-quality papers
will be published in several SCI/EI indexed international journals.
