Topics/Call fo Papers

The Doctoral Consortium of the IEEE Eighth International Conference on Research Challenges in Information Science (RCIS 2014) aims at offering a supportive learning opportunity for doctoral students in the early stage of their research on problems related to information science to discuss their work in progress and to receive feedback and guidance from the RCIS audience. A panel of prominent professors and experts in the field of information science will serve as mentors during the Doctoral Consortium sessions. The conference organizers will work on ensuring that the Doctoral Consortium is well attended and have a vibrant discussion environment. Doctoral students that are somewhere in the middle of their research are cordially invited to submit extended abstracts of their work and participate in the dedicated sessions. The topics eligible for extended abstract submissions are the same as those of the RCIS 2014 conference, including a special focus this year on Social Network Analysis (SNA), and include:
Social Network Modeling and Simulation
Social Network Mining
Applications of Social Network Analysis
Information System Engineering
Requirements Engineering
Database and Information
System Integration
Data Management
Information Search and Discovery
Software Testing
Software engineering
Human-Computer Interaction
Web Information Systems
Grid Computing and Cloud Computing
Social Computing
User Centred Approaches
Decision Information Systems
Knowledge Management
Knowledge Discovery from Data
Business Process Analysis, Modelling and Design
Business Applications
Information Security Risk
Information and Value Management
Papers may address one or more of the listed sub-topics, although authors should not feel limited by them. Unlisted but related topics are also acceptable, provided they fit in one of the conference main topics.
Author Guidelines
Each extended abstract should not exceed 6 pages in length and should address the following points:
Introduce the field of research and identify the main challenges related to it.
Clearly formulate the research questions and objectives, justifying why they were chosen.
Outline the current knowledge of the problem domain, as well as the state of existing solutions.
Sketch the research methodology that is being applied.
Introduce the proposed solution and the results achieved so far.
State in what aspects the suggested solution is different or better as compared to existing approaches.
Indicate the outstanding issues and describe the next steps that are planned.
Provide a list of references
Submissions must be written by a single author, written in English and must follow the IEEE 2-column format (see IEEE templates for conference proceedings).
